Computer Science for Games aims to develop computer scientists with a particular interest in games programming. The computer games industry employs multidisciplinary teams to design and develop computer games, but each specialist in the team needs an appreciation of the role of others, and a feel for 'the big picture'. The aim of the course is to provide you with the theoretical base, and the tools and techniques which software developers need, regardless of their field of application, but placed within the interesting, practical context of games design. It is taught alongside our specialist computer games course in our Department of Creative Technology.
Our typical offers are:
BSc 3- and 4-year courses - 240 points
To include 160 points coming from 2 GCE A levels, or qualifications of equivalent depth and volume. Key Skills (level 3) and AS or A-level General Studies points may also be included in the points total. Whilst many of our students coming in with A levels studied Computing, ICT, Mathematics and/or sciences, it is not essential to do so. We welcome applicants taking any combination of subjects for any of the courses.
For students undertaking Vocational A levels we require a pass in ICT or science.
We also require Mathematics and English GCSE at least at C grade.
