Our economics courses locate the discipline within the real world, enabling you to use economics to analyse practical problems like these.
We offer a wide range of degree courses, with opportunities for placements and study abroad.
Our Economics degrees will provide you with analytical and communication skills that are highly sought after by employers. Our graduates go on to work in banking, finance, marketing, accounting and management, whilst there are opportunities to directly use your economics knowledge, particularly in the Civil Service, local government or teaching. All students study a core of economic theory and applications, with particular applications and further specialisms depending on degree path.
This is a one-year full-time course that provides students who have completed a Higher National Diploma (or equivalent), including the study of economics, with an opportunity to progress their education and earn an Honours degree. Your studies will include modules in international trade, economics and finance of business, research and study skills alongside writing a project.
Economics degrees are particularly well-rewarded in the labour market. We have an excellent graduate employment record, with 100% of our 2009 graduates in employment or further training within six months of graduating. Our courses develop your skills of analysis and critical thought, and build skills in communication, expression and rational argument. Approximately two-thirds of our recent graduates have found employment in commerce or industry, public and Civil Service posts. The remaining third undertake further study for a Master’s degree or for careers such as teaching.
Our typical offers are:

Bradford Foundation Year
If you have not studied the appropriate subjects to the required depth, the foundation year is a bridging course designed to provide you with an academic background to study an Economics degree. International students may also enter our courses via the International Foundation Year, Social Sciences stream.
Students typically undertake placements between their second and final year of study. Support is provided to help you find a relevant work placement (through your dedicated Career and Personal Development module, the Careers Service and the Division). If you locate a suitable year-long placement you can transfer to the four-year degree route and upon completion of a reflective portfolio you will qualify for the Diploma of Professional Experience, alongside your degree. Shorter summer placements are also popular with students, and through the EU Erasmus scheme, these may also be undertaken in other European countries. Recent examples of placements secured by our students include work with HM Treasury, the Department for Work and Pensions, the Department of Health, the Office for National Statistics and in charitable and private sector organisations in the UK and beyond.
