Help us build a global digital health community

West Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region’s ambition is to become  the best place in the UK for entrepreneurs to set-up and grow innovative businesses in the digital healthcare sector.

The DHEZ programme is a £13 million partnership led by us and backed by investment from BTCity of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and the UK government. The programme will be helping people to prevent and manage long-term conditions such as diabetes, cancer and dementia by redesigning services and care pathways using new products and services underpinned by innovations in computing, communications technology and medical engineering.

DHEZ will see the creation of two complementary innovation and research spaces in Bradford over the next year. The Digital Exchange building in Little Germany is being upgraded to create a high quality business incubator.  Complementing the Digital Exchange, the nearby £7 million Health and Wellbeing Centre on the University City Campus (Phoenix Building) will be used to connect with the community, including local government, workplaces, schools, and  businesses. The Centre will also run academic programmes in public health and physicians associate, and house practising health professionals, including an Optometry Clinic, Digital Pathology lab, a Physiotherapy Clinic, pharmacists,  and health promotion workers. The main focus of all these research and teaching activities will be on long-term health conditions and technology-enabled health care.

The key to the success of DHEZ will be the people and organisations involved.  As members of staff of the University, you are part of that community and are key to helping us bring people together from the wider community.
