Assessment Policy, Procedures and Guidance

Introduction

The Expectation in Chapter B6 of the Quality Code: The assessment of students and the recognition of prior learning (external website) is:

Higher education providers operate equitable, valid and reliable processes of assessment, including for the recognition of prior learning, which enable every student to demonstrate the extent to which they have achieved the intended learning outcomes for the credit or qualification being sought

It is important to note that Chapter B6 of the Quality Code deals with the assessment of student learning which is achieved as part of a formal programme offered by a higher education provider, and learning at the equivalent level achieved outside of the formal programme of study (for which credit is then awarded that counts towards the final award).
