Bradford City Football Club and the University of Bradford

Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit

The University of Bradford's Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU) was set up in the aftermath of the fire disaster at Bradford City's ground in 1985, in which 56 people died and hundreds more were injured.

Professor David Sharpe founded the unit after treating and planning surgery for more than 200 people who were burned in the fire, and it continues to be funded largely by donations from members of the public.

2015 was the 30th anniversary of the tragedy.

Find out more about what happened by watching the documentary One Day in May: The Story of the Bradford City Fire, broadcast by BT Sport on 11 May.

Students filming Bradford City.

Digital Media Working Academy

Students from our Digital Media Working Academy (DMWA) film every home Bradford City match for the match highlights shown on the football club's website.

"As an avid football fan and television production student, filming football matches at Valley Parade is fun and educational. It is exciting to be part of Bradford’s community in this way, and to feel the passion they have for the team. I am grateful to the Digital Media Working Academy for allowing me to get involved, and look forward to capturing more matches in the future.

"Go Bantams!"

The students also have access to players and coaches for pre and post-match interviews.

DMWA is based in the School of Media, Design and Technology in the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, and is accredited by Creative Skillset.

"I got the opportunity to join Bradford City Football Club's media team as a photographer. I loved it from the first game. As I've always been interested in sports photography these matches were a dream come true!

"Working next to the biggest agencies' photographers was incredible."
