The Grounds Team

The team are responsible for the upkeep, development and maintenance of the University’s grounds on all sites all year round. They are a close knit group who can plan their own work.

They mainly work between the City Campus and Faculty of Management according to the season and task requirements. They often arrange their work hours to suit the needs of the University and events and also carry out litter picking, slips and trips inspections, arboriculture work and tree safety inspections.

The team are also responsible for snow clearing and salt gritting during the winter months and often work through the night to ensure the Campus is safe for staff when they arrive for work. Anyone who gardens at home will appreciate how much planning and effort is involved in this type of work but on a much bigger scale.

The Faculty of Management campus has been entered into the Yorkshire in Bloom competition for the past few years and has received a Gold Award on four occasions, thanks the work of the grounds team.
