The media relations team is dedicated to growing the profile of the university and its academics, and to building its reputation for world-leading research and teaching.
We work closely with academics to highlight the great work that they do and to make sure that their stories are told to the world. From supporting those living with dementia to uncovering the secrets of Stonehenge, from the latest developments in cancer therapy to delivering the next generation of mobile communications, from helping to bring peace to regions in conflict to developing the latest in crime-fighting in technology.
We work alongside our colleagues to make sure those stories reach the widest audience possible, whether through national or specialist media or via our various online and social media platforms. We are also a major contributor to The Conversation, bringing our expert analysis to the key topics of the day, helping people to understand the complex issues facing the world.
The team comprises Media Relations Manager Mark Thompson and Senior Media Relations Officer Jenny Watkinson (currently on maternity leave). Together, we support the University’s Faculties to communicate their vital work effectively. We also manage a busy press office, answering the many enquiries that come in and arranging interviews with our experts. Additionally, we regularly help to facilitate documentary film making on campus.
