Campus Map - Graduation Ceremony Locations

Here is our Campus map for the December 2023 Graduations with key locations of Registration & Gown Hire, Photography, The Great Hall and Faculty Celebrations.

If you require this information in an alternative format, please contact our team. You can also read our Website Accessibility Statement.

  1. Aim to arrive on campus two hours before your ceremony begins.

There will be limited parking available on graduation ceremony days and this is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see the car park map for details of local car parks. Parking is available for guests with disabilities who are Blue Badge holders, again this is on a first-come-first-served basis.

  2. Make your way to Registration Office (Small Hall, Richmond Building) where you will collect your tickets and gown.

You and your guests will need your tickets to enter the Great Hall, please ensure you do not lose them as duplicate tickets cannot be issued.

We suggest having your photographs taken following your ceremony to prevent any delays getting to your seat. If you are late arriving to the Hall we cannot guarantee you will be permitted to enter.

  3. Please be seated in the Great Hall auditorium 30 minutes before your ceremony.

Your graduand ticket will have your allocated seat number on it. Student seating will be at the front of the auditorium and guest seating will be at the back of the auditorium or in the balcony. Unless you have notified us that special seating is required, guest seating is unreserved and will be on a first-come-first-served basis.  We would advise you to arrive early to ensure your guests are able to sit together.

  4. The ceremony will begin with a procession of the Chancellor and/or the Vice-Chancellor and members of academic staff.

You will be guided to the stage where your name will be read out, you will then walk across the stage to be greeted and congratulated by the Chancellor or Vice-Chancellor. When you reach the other side of the stage you will be directed back to your seat.

  5. The ceremony will last approximately one and a half hours.

  6. Photography

The official graduation photographers will be available to take individual or family photos throughout the day in the Sports Hall at Unique Fitness. We suggest having your photographs taken following your ceremony to prevent any delays getting to your seat. If you arrive early you may want to visit the photography studio before you graduate.

  7. Please make sure you return your gown before the Gowning and Photography studios close on the day of your ceremony.

Registration Office (Social Learning Space, Richmond Building) will open 08:00-15:30 on the day of your ceremony. You will need to bring your UB number in order to register for your ceremony.  This will appear on your graduand ticket email or your student ID card. At registration we will issue you with your seat number along with the graduation booklet and any guest tickets you have been allocated. Guest tickets are not numbered - guests will be guided to available seats by stewards in the Great Hall.

You must register for your graduation ceremony 45 minutes before your ceremony is due to start.  Please ensure that you register on time as we cannot guarantee you entry into the ceremony if you are late.

You will collect your gown as soon as you've registered.

Once you've registered and collected your gown, you and your guests can then proceed to the Great Hall and take your seats 30 minutes before the ceremony is due to start.

If you are running late due to unavoidable circumstances please call ahead and advise us on 01274 233002.

The graduation ceremonies are held on the University's main City Campus.

When travelling to Bradford on the day of your graduation ceremony it is very important that you allow plenty of time to make your journey.

We recommend that you allow sufficient time to travel to the venue (Great Hall on City Campus) with ample time to collect your ceremony tickets, graduation gown and have any photographs taken.

The University of Bradford has car parking facilities available, but there are some restrictions which form part of our support for an environmental policy on car use.

If you are a blue badge holder you will have access to parking bays located in the visitors' car park near to the entrance of Richmond Building on City Campus.

You will need to enter the campus via the barrier on Tumbling Hill Street to be able to access these.

On campus

Assistance is available on campus as necessary to access gowning, photography and catering facilities.

The majority of the University campus is wheelchair accessible, despite the difficulties of having changes in level.

The Great Hall, where the ceremonies take place, can be accessed by taking the lift to the first floor (D floor) and entering the hall via the side doors facing onto the Atrium.

Stewards will be on hand to assist students and guests to their seats.

If you are unable to climb the steps, arrangements can be made for access via the lift and seating arranged on the platform. Please provide details of any requirements on your e:Vision reply form

Access to guest seating area

Access to guest level seating can be made via the Great Hall side doors facing the Atrium.

When completing the e:Vision reply form please include details of wheelchair users and any guests with other mobility problems for whom level access seating is required

Additional requirements

If you and/or your guests require particular seating arrangements due to a disability, you must ensure that full details are provided when completing your reply form.

These details are important to ensure that the appropriate arrangements are made.
