Graduate Profile - Andy Barker
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy (2010)
Watch alumni Andy Barker talking about his experiences of studying Physiotherapy at the University of Bradford, and his current physiotherapy role at Leeds Rhinos Rugby Club.
'I'd always had an interest in physiotherapy,' said Andy, 'but was unsuccessful in gaining a place when I left school at eighteen. However, with my background in sport and the additional experience that I had gained through work shadowing, I was accepted to start on the physiotherapy programme in 2007.'
Andy completed his degree this summer and was pleased to find employment immediately as a physiotherapist with Leeds Rhinos first team.
'I'd worked with Leeds Rhinos on my elective three week placement and I really enjoyed the experience. After this, I continued to work with the Rhinos on a voluntary basis and was lucky enough to be offered a permanent post in early summer this year.'
Andy is delighted to be working with such a prestigious club, so soon after leaving University, and believes that his experience highlights the diversity of roles available to physiotherapists on completing their training.
