Teaching and Supervisory Responsibilities
Pre-registration midwifery, mainly clinical midwifery knowledge and skill development.
Post-registration teaching related to advanced midwifery practice.
Maria qualified as a Nurse in 1983 and worked for almost seven years as a nurse on an Orthopaedic and plastic surgical ward before commencing midwifery training in 1990.
Maria is an experienced clinical midwife with over twenty year’s experience. She and has a wide variety of skills in all areas of clinical midwifery practice. She spent seven years in the community setting and was involved in the setting up of Midwifery led services across Calderdale. Following the birth of her first child Maria went to work in the hospital setting. Gaining experience in all areas, she spent the majority of time gaining skills in promoting normality and midwifery care for women with high risk pregnancies who required intrapartum care.
