Research Interests (key words only)

Professional behaviour and conduct, misconduct and associated penalties, professional body regulation, legal decision making in health related cases particularly quality of life, consent, student achievement, equality and diversity.

Teaching and Supervisory Responsibilities

Teaching across both undergraduate pre-registration and continuing professional development / post-registration programmes in the areas of healthcare law and ethics and study skills.

Biography

A Registered General Nurse, Ruth has previous clinical experience in both coronary care and acute surgery. 

When Ruth moved into education she developed particular interest in legal and ethical aspects of healthcare and was Programme Leader for the Pre-registration Nursing programme at Sheffield University. 

She has since managed educational departments at Sheffield University, Sheffield Hallam University and now Heads the School of Nursing at the University of Bradford. 

Ruth has held a number of External Expert and External Examiner posts at HEIs across the UK and currently examines for Northumbria University. 

Ruth is also voluntarily involved in supporting partners/relatives/friends of health professionals who are in treatment for addictions.
