Frequently Asked Questions about HEAR
What is the HEAR?
The HEAR is a single, comprehensive, electronic record of a student’s achievement which is built up as they progress through their student life. It includes both academic and extra-curricular achievements and therefore captures and acknowledges the broader student experience. See What is the HEAR? for further information.
Who is eligible for the HEAR?
From September 2016, all Bradford-based taught students at the University (undergraduate and postgraduate taught) will have a HEAR generated for them. Plans to roll-out the HEAR to students in partner institutions are underway, as are HEARs for postgraduate research students. See Who is eligible for a HEAR for further information.
When will I receive my HEAR?
Students will receive their formal HEAR when they graduate from the university. When they complete their course their HEAR will be finalised and they will be able to both access and share the HEAR with others, for example, prospective employers, postgraduate admissions tutors.
Developing versions will be accessible via students' Gradintellegence accounts over the course of their studies.
What is included in the HEAR?
A HEAR will contain academic information about the course, modules and marks/grades as they are released following examination board. It will also include information about any programme, department or faculty prizes, accredited placements undertaken, as well as details of any verified extra-curricular achievements. Please see For students and graduates for further information.
What does a HEAR look like?
You can access a sample version of the HEAR via See what a HEAR looks like.
How do I access my HEAR?
What is Gradintelligence?
Gradintellegence is the online system that Bradford students will use to generate and access their HEAR. Bradford is one of 31 institutions working in partnership with Gradintellegence to deliver their HEARs.
For further information visit About Gradintellegence.
How are extra-curricular achievements included?
If students successfully take part in an endorsed HEAR achievement then it should be automatically included on their HEAR. Students are encouraged to get involved in extra-curricular activity throughout their time at the University to make the most of their experience - which can then be acknowledged via the HEAR. Please see How can I add to my HEAR and Uses and benefits for further information.
What happens to my HEAR when I leave University?
The HEAR received after graduation is the final version of student achievement during that period of study at the University and it remains accessible to students via their Gradintellegence account.
Why are there no HEARs for those that graduated before 2017?
All students graduating before July 2017 will have received, or are due to receive, a formal transcript of the academic achievements from their programme of study. Only when the HEAR was launched could extra-curricular achievements be endorsed and verified for students.
Who do I contact if my HEAR is not accurate?
Can I graduate without activating my HEAR?
All eligible students will graduate as usual from July 2017. Not activating their Gradintellegence account will mean that students will not receive their formal university transcript of results. It is therefore essential that students activate their account in order to receive their transcript.
