For students and graduates

As an undergraduate or postgraduate taught student at Bradford you will develop and then publish a Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) as you progress through your studies.

Your HEAR will contain:

  • Academic information about your course, modules and marks/grades as they are released following examination boards
  • Information about any programme, department or faculty prizes achieved and accredited placements undertaken
  • Details of the verified extra-curricular activities and achievements that have been part of your student life here at Bradford (this could include voluntary work and various UBU or university activities and roles)

Many universities now work with their undergraduate students to develop HEARs and they are becoming increasingly important to employers as a way of understanding all of the different aspects of a student’s time at University.

Who is eligible for a HEAR?

From September 2016, all Bradford-based taught students at the University (undergraduate and postgraduate taught) will be generated a HEAR through the Gradintel system*.  Plans to roll-out the HEAR to students in partner institutions are underway, as are HEARs for postgraduate research students.

Our summer 2017 taught graduates (who entered their final year in September 2016) will be the first cohort to develop and leave with a HEAR.

*Some exclusions may apply - please contact the HEAR team.

Undergraduate students

Postgraduate research students wont yet receive a HEAR and will continue to receive the existing results transcript.  Plans are currently underway to develop the HEAR for our postgraduate research students.

If you are unsure about your HEAR eligibility please contact hear@bradford.ac.uk.

How do I generate a HEAR?

You will be able to see and publish your HEAR through the Gradintelligence system.

Achievements are built up and verified throughout academic years by university staff and the Students’ Union.

The HEAR is a living document and you can use the opportunities available to you during your time at the University of Bradford to maximise your experience and your HEAR.

Eligible students will be set up in the system automatically and you will need to self-verify your account following the email invite sent to your Bradford email address.

You do not have to add achievements to your HEAR – this will be done for you by the university.

June 2017 update:  HEAR information for 16/17 is due to be updated in the coming weeks.  Programme achievements and details of any eligible extra-curricular achievements (section 6 of the HEAR), that have been verified by the appropriate staff members, should appear after then and in time for 16/17 transcript release after graduation in July 2017.

How can I access my HEAR?

You can view your HEAR through the Gradintelligence system.

New achievements will appear on your record as soon as they have been verified by the owner. Please note that verification can only happen once you have successfully completed the activity/item in question.

When you complete your course your HEAR will be finalised and you will be able to both access your HEAR and share it with others, for example, prospective employers, postgraduate admissions tutors.

You will be able to see your achievements through Gradintelligence and work with your tutors, other staff and fellow students to plan future activities to enhance your HEAR.

How can I add to my HEAR?

Academic information about your course, modules and marks/grades will be added automatically as they are released following examination boards.

Participation in any endorsed achievements and activities will be verified by the owner and added to your HEAR on your behalf.

See a list of these endorsed achievements and activities.

You should take every opportunity to chat through potential activities with your tutors and other staff to get the most out of studying at Bradford and achieve well to stand out from the crowd on graduation.

How can I use my HEAR?

Your HEAR is a record of not just your academic achievements but also the extra-curricular activities that the University has verified you as achieving.

It is your opportunity to demonstrate to potential employers how you have made the most of your time here at Bradford and gained the skills and experience needed to be successful on graduation.

Make the most of your time as a student and work with your fellow students and staff to capture your achievements and experiences as you progress through your studies.

Employers now recognise the HEAR as a formal transcript of a students’ time at University so plan your activities well and demonstrate your full range of experiences and skills.
