Library and IT Services

Students at the School of Management have access to state-of-the-art study and IT facilities on the Emm Lane campus, as well as use of the resources available on the City Campus.

Management and Law Learning Resource Centre

The Management and Law Learning Resource Centre in the Emm Lane building is a vibrant and state-of-the-art learning environment, created as part of our multi-million pound redevelopment in 2010.

The centre consists of a dedicated Business and Management Library and a self-contained Law Library.

The Business and Management collection includes key management textbooks and essential journals. These are international in scope and include the top scholarly titles.

The Management and Law Learning Resource Centre includes self-issue and self-return facilities, photocopiers and printers, areas for silent study and social learning, and wireless access throughout the building.

Computer Rooms

More than 50 PCs are available for general student use on the Emm Lane campus.

Each computer room has a self-service printer and access to secure networked printers.

Students also have access to the laptop bar in the Management and Law Resource Centre, access points in the Atrium, and computing facilities on the City Campus.

Opening hours

During term time:
Monday - Friday: 7am - 9.30pm
Saturday: 9am - 4pm

Out of term time:
Monday - Friday: 7am - 6.30pm
Saturday: 9am - 4pm

Individual rooms may be closed before these times for security reasons.


Wireless networking is available to students (RoamNet) and visitors (The Cloud) across the campus.

Blackboard is a virtual learning environment (VLE) that enables lecturers and students to share learning materials, communicate and collaborate on-line.

It is web based and can therefore be accessed from any computer with a web browser and internet connection.
