As Director of Executive Education since 2007, Julian is responsible for developing management programmes for private and public sector organisations such as WM Morrisons plc, Pace plc, the Skipton Group, Bradford Metropolitan Council and the NHS. He builds close links with the businesses and creates tailored, flexible management training packages around the School’s high quality teaching that are highly relevant to the work place.
The companies he has worked with are maintaining competitive advantage in difficult times. Investment in executive education and development rather than a focus on cost cutting sends a strong message to managers about their importance to the future of the organisation and improves productivity.
With a background in strategic marketing, Julian is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Chartered Marketer. He is currently a member of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce Council and a Community Governor at Harrogate Grammar School.
Julian brings extensive experience in industry to the School. He spent 16 years with tour operator Eurocamp, principally as Group Sales and Marketing Director and was one of four directors to take the company through a £32m management buy-out and £60m stock market flotation. In 1994 he devised the marketing strategy for Britain's biggest museum development, the £42.5m Royal Armouries in Leeds. He has also been a main board non executive director of ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) and AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators).
Julian graduated in Geography from the University of Leicester and has an MSc in Tourism Management from Manchester Metropolitan University. He has links with business schools across the UK and Europe.
