A durational event exploring group improvisation and site-responsiveness through music and performance with three sets by collaborations of artists and musicians:

Alchemy/Schmalchemy (Sheffield)

Alchemy/Schmalchemyis Geoff Bright, Walt Shaw and Gillian Whiteley. The project is a free improvisation multi-media live art performance using a range of objects, musical instruments, low-tech equipment, texts and other (non) musical miscellania. It is staged over a couple of hours exploring the meeting point of art installation and musical performance.

Ithaca Trio (Leeds) and David Bell (Nottingham)

Oliver Thurley is a Cambridge-born composer, and PhD candidate in Music Composition at the University of Leeds. He composes and make music under the moniker Ithaca Trio.  This ranges from soundscape works, drone-based ambient electronics, across to jazz and forms of free-improvisation and noise.  David Bell is an academic, writer and musician interested in the politics of group improvisation and nomadic utopias. Together they will explore the space with a focus on electronics and ambience.

Seth Bennett, Aby Vulliamy and George Murray (Bradford)

Seth Bennett is a musician specializing in improvisation on the double-bass. He has performed in a range of groups and ensembles from the hardcore punk band Headache, through the 7 Hertz and McWatt more recently in Mary Hampton Cotillion as well as in various jazz outfits and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Aby Vulliamy was a member of the Glasgow-based groups Nalle, The One Ensemble and Scatter and has recently been seen in Bradford performing short but blistering solo sets on viola. They will be joined by George Murray (also a member of Scatter and Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra) on trombone in what promises to be an exciting meeting of Bradfordian talent.

The event will be held in arts-organisation Fabric's Pop-Up Space on Centenary Square in Bradford City Centre. Free entry. Feel free to come and go as you please or stay for the duration!
