University of Bradford's School of Management hosts major global branding conference

The University of Bradford is to host a major global conference exploring how brands can project a positive image.

The conference, Brands that do Good, takes place from 27-29 April 2016 at the University’s world-leading School of Management, Emm Lane, Bradford.

Nearly 100 delegates from 22 countries will hear 70 papers presented and take part in wide-ranging discussions over the three-day conference, the 11th in the series organised by the Academy of Marketing’s Special Interest Group in Brand, Identity and Corporate Reputation. Previous hosts have included Barcelona, Atlanta, Porto, Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester and Birmingham.

Keynote speakers from major organisations such as Unilever and Nicholas Ind, author of recent book Brands with a Conscience, will headline the event, which will investigate the opportunities for brands to raise themselves above negativity, criticism and a sceptical public by demonstrating their wider contribution to society.

The conference will also be an opportunity to showcase the School of Management, the University of Bradford and the city itself.

Lord Mayor Councillor Joanne Dodds will host a reception at the Cartwright Art Gallery on the first evening prior to the conference dinner, and other attractions include a curry night at the University’s city campus and a trip to Saltaire World Heritage Site.

Professor Stuart Roper, conference chair and Professor of Marketing at the School of Management, said: “This is a really good opportunity for Bradford. We are welcoming delegates from all over the world, many of whom have never been to Bradford.
