About Us

The University of Bradford Nursery was opened in April 1992 and is purpose-built to provide facilities of a high standard for children aged 12 weeks to five years. During the summer we also run a Summer Club Scheme for children aged 5 to 12 years.

Over the years we have achieved many awards including the University's award of Excellence for Developing People (IIP), certification for passing Effective Early Learning (EEL), the Investors in Children Award (IIC), Silver Award in Inclusion Quality Standard (IQS) and a 5* rating in Food Hygiene. In February 2014 we achieved a Gold Award for the First Steps to Healthy Teeth Dental Health.

To maintain our good practice ethos we continue to develop our provision through the use of audit tool and Local Authority (LA) development programmes. These include the Every Child a Talker (ECaT) National Early Years Language Programme, which is dedicated to supporting children's speaking and listening skills. The Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) and the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) is another tool for measuring practice and environment quality within early years provision. We use this auditing tool within our setting as we feel it enables us to assess our provision holistically. 

We have a highly qualified staff team which consists of two Graduate Leaders and an Early Years Teacher.

We were awarded with an Ofsted judgement of 'GOOD' following from our March 2017 inspection.

"Staff create a warm and welcoming environment. Children confidently enter the nursery and are quick to settle in and play. Children's behaviour is excellent."
