Advanced Materials Engineering
Advanced Materials Engineering research at Bradford is at the forefront of many of the new material development technologies such as electronic polymers, biomaterials, advanced ceramics, nanocomposites and ‘smart’ materials which are making an enormous impact in the lives of millions of people.
Our track record is one of strong research delivery, and extensive collaboration with industry. We have a successful and enthusiastic research culture which has resulted in many high-quality journal publications, international conference presentations, and research student completions.
Our research strengths arise from the combined expertise of our world-class advanced material engineering research centres: The UK Polymer Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) based across the Universities of Leeds, Bradford, Durham and Sheffield; The Coating Science and Technology Research Centre. The area leads on two of the Research and Knowledge Transfer Centres: Advanced Materials Engineering; and Polymer Micro & Nano Technology (external link).
A recent highlight of our activity is the UK governmentfunded Science Bridges China Programme in which leading Bradford researchers work with leading researchers in China.
