Part-time PhD student
Research title: Advanced Practice Radiographers leading the way in Cardiac CT imaging. Is this one role development too far or does this innovative approach provide key stake holders with the satisfaction demanded by the 2010 Government white paper?
Supervisors: Prof Maryann Hardy and Dr Anita Sargeant.
Rachael Forton, a cardiac CT advanced practice radiographer and PhD student with Faculty of Health Studies, was a member of the team from The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to be awarded the UK Radiographer Team of the Year by the Society & College of Radiographers.
The award acknowledged their commitment to improving services for patients undergoing a CT coronary angiography examination. The procedure is used to assess any disease that may be present in the coronary arteries and the CT scanner is used to take detailed images of a patient’s heart. Rachael’s doctoral study is considering how patient centred care can be achieved and maintained within a high technology, protocol driven healthcare environment and the results of her work will support raising standards in CT cardiac imaging.
