Dr Mohamed is Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering and currently the Head of Civil Engineering Department. Dr Mohamed has gained a wide range of expertise from working in academia and industry. His research interests lie in the area of geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. In particular, his key research areas are recovery of thermal energy from soils, soil reinforcement, modelling unsaturated soils, consolidation of soft soils, soil structure interaction, contaminant transport and treatment of wastewater using soil aquifers. Dr Mohamed supervised 4 PhD projects to completion and is currently supervising 9 PhD projects. Dr Mohamed has published over 60 technical papers in leading engineering journals and at international conferences.Dr Mohamed regularly reviews articles for the ASCE, Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, Water Research, Geotechnical and Geological Engineering (GEGE), International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics.Materials - Open Access Materials Science Journal, Journal of Water and Climate Change, ICE journal - Energy.Environmental Technology, Geomechanics and Engineering.Administrative and managerial duties and responsibilities: July 2018: Head of Civil Engineering Department Oct. 2013-June 2018: Head of Civil Engineering Discipline and Programme Leader.2007 - 2013 Course Tutor and MEng tutor for Civil and Structural Engineering Courses.
Research
Dr Mohamed's research interests are; i. Heat recovery from shallow soil layers,ii. Reinforcement of weak soils , iii. Modelling of soil-structure interaction.iv. Constitutive modelling of unsaturated soilsv. Consolidation of soft heterogeneous soilsvi. Experimental and numerical analysis for the patterns and mechanisms of contaminants transport in porous media.Soil Aquifer Treatment.Research Groups: Bradford Centre for Sustainable Environments
