Biography

Dr Syed Zubair Shah has extensive and diverseexperience of working in business, public and voluntary sectors with national and international organizations. He started his professional career as a marketing executive in a computer firm selling American products - Wang, Tandy & RadioShack. He remained a member of the civilian police services in Pakistan for almost three decades. He has worked with the United Nations Mission inBosnia as an International Instructor and with the United Nations IntegratedMission in East Timor as Chief of Strategic Planning for UN Police. Working asProject Lead, Dr Shah successfully led the first-of-its-kind community policinginitiative in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, funded by the Department forInternational Development, UK. Dr Shah has also been a fellow of theprestigious International Visitor’s Leadership Program of the Department ofState, United States Government. He has also successfully completed theForensic Interviewing Course from Canadian Police College Ottawa, besidescompleting numerous other courses in diverse areas of interest.

Prior to completing his PhD from the Universityof Bradford, Dr Shah had received master’s degrees in Transnational CrimePrevention with Distinction from the University of Wollongong Australia (AUSAIDScholarship), MA(ECON) in Public Policy and Management, first position, fromthe University of Manchester UK (Britannia Chevening Scholarship), and Masterof Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK and a member of the BritishAccounting and Finance Association. His research interests include corporatefraud specifically tax, accounting and executive compensation frauds, audit andregulatory quality, corporate governance, financial crisis, debt crisis,interest rate regimes, diversity-based research and market-based accountingresearch.
