Sport and fitness for all
The Team Bradford sporting community offers clubs and activities for every student. You can get involved in sports ranging from football to snowboarding, archery to athletics.
Our recently upgraded facilities include two new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) pitches, a strength and conditioning suite, a 25-metre swimming pool, tennis courts, climbing wall, an indoor sports hall and a fully-equipped gym.
"Sport is a great way to enhance your time here, and to help you be more than just your degree. It signifies everything Team Bradford is about, and it brings people together unlike anything else."
Novice, intermediate, expert
Our 33 sports clubs are open to all students, regardless of experience or ability. Even if you've never played your chosen sport before, you'll be welcome at your club's training sessions and social events.
To enrol in a sports club you will need to purchase a Sports Membership, which costs £160 for 12 months. Membership allows you peak access to Unique Fitness and Lifestyle, and entitles you to join as many sports clubs as you like. You can purchase your membership online, or in person at Unique.
The University also runs an Active Campus programme for students who aren't involved in clubs. This programme allows students to participate in a wide range of casual sports sessions without the commitment of a Sports Membership.
UNIversal Gym Membership
Sports Membership holders are now entitled to sign up to a new pilot scheme organised by British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), called UNIversal Gym Membership.
The scheme allows Sports Membership holders from the University of Bradford free access to gym and sports facilities at participating institutions. The offer is open to staff and students, and is particularly useful if you commute to university or have a placement away from campus.
To be part of the scheme, please see Beth Stanfield, the Sports Officer at the Students' Union.
Further details and a list of participating institutions can be found on the BUCS website.
Join our club
Team Bradford isn't all about sport - our students also enjoy a vibrant social scene. Most of the clubs organise regular events and nights out, and some of them even holiday together! Joining a sports club is a great way to make friends.
Representing Team Bradford
As well as holding regular training sessions and social meet-ups, many of our clubs are represented by teams in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues.
Our students have the opportunity to compete against rival universities from across the country in sports as diverse as lacrosse, equestrian, volleyball and fencing.
Sports Scholarship Scheme
Our Sports Scholarship Scheme provides financial assistance for qualifying students who are serious about sport.
If you are applying to study at the University of Bradford and excel in a particular sport, you may eligible.
