Badriya from Oman tells us about herself and her studies here at the University of Bradford.
Where are you from?
I’m Badriya Al-Zadjali from Oman.
What are you studying?
MSc in Advanced Computer Science.
How did you hear about the University of Bradford?
Why did you choose to come to Bradford?
Well, I heard about it from many people who recommended it.
How did the University/International Office/ Language Centre help you settle in when you first arrived?
To be honest I was worried before I came here, but really surprised after that. The volunteer took me from the airport and helped me with my luggage to the student accommodation village, The Green, and I can’t forget a nice lady from the International Office who was very nice with us from the first moment we arrived in Bradford.
And the accommodation team, who helped me a lot to find a suitable homestay.
Beside that I can’t ignore the International Study Centre, it is like a home for us. Everything was well organised.
Why is Bradford a good place to be an international student?
Yes it is a nice place, everything is available; food, shops, restaurants and so on, and everything is close to the University as well.
How did studying on the Pre-sessional English course help you?
It is a very good experience for me. First thing it is a good start for me before the main course. So, I got to know different places in Bradford and meet new friends during the course and went on a trip which was on our timetable.
In addition, this course gave me an introduction to academic study, for example how to write essays, write notes during lectures and how to use citations, how to paraphrase and use the resources available.
It was a really useful course.
