Finely crafted dances submerged in experimental soundscapes create BROUHAHA, Lola Maury’s first full-length
Drawing inspiration from rituals and carnivals; mixing voice, multi-channel composition and movement to create a confused clamour. BROUHAHA becomes an exercise in hyperbolic sounds and the body as an organ. A multilayered experience; a sometimes chaotic, sometimes harmonious mess of sonics mashed, spliced and woven with macabre sequences of movement, BROUHAHA pricks up our ears and sets us up for double-takes.
Lola Maury is a French choreographer based in Lyon and London. Her practice encourages the audience to alter their mode of attention whilst heightening awareness of sound and vision.
BROUHAHA is commissioned by Theatre in the Mill and The Place. Developed with financial support from the National Lottery through the Arts Council of England. Further support from Dance4, Yorkshire Dance, DanceCity, Cambridge Junction and La Briqueterie.
