Nicole Sarmiento Quevedo
- From Venezuela
- Loves sports and travelling
- Would like to manage a pharmaceutical company
I'm originally from Venezuela but moved to the US when I was 16 to finish my high school education and then I decided to come to the UK to do my degree.
Love for chemistry
I was always very good in science subjects and Chemistry is something that I very much enjoyed learning in high school. Choosing to do it as a degree had a lot to do with my teachers. They were very passionate about the subject and saw my potential and always encouraged me. I also love the practical aspects of chemistry.
Travelling and sporting interests
I love travelling; it has always been a very important part of my life. Apart from travelling I love reading books and watching films in my free time as well as keeping fit by going to the gym and doing sports. Through sports I have been able to meet so many people and enjoy new experiences. I joined the Volleyball Club when I moved to Bradford and it is one of the best decisions I have made. I am social secretary for the second year in a row and I love it. I am not very good at the sport itself but I love being able to contribute in the social aspect of the club. Volleyball club has become my family and it has been a big impact in my university journey. I started swimming when I was 6yrs old back home and competed until I was 16. I love swimming, since I was little; I always enjoyed being in a pool or by the sea. I like going to the gym and swimming occasionally as a hobby but not as a competition any more.
I consider myself to be a very ambitious person and following my degree I would like to go into the pharmaceutical industry to work on developing new medicines. Eventually after working in industry I would like to move towards the management of pharmaceutical companies.
