Malaysian State Minister visits the University
The University of Bradford strengthened its ties with the Far East when it welcomed a Malaysian State Minister to the campus.
The Honourable Dato' Haji Abdul Malik Kasim, State Minister for Religious Affairs and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, was here to explore ways to extend the relationship between the University and Malaysia, including possible areas for collaboration and partnership.
He was welcomed by University Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Cantor before meeting senior academics and staff at the innovative re:centre building, the University’s world-leading environmentally-friendly business collaboration centre.
The University already provides a number of programmes to universities in Malaysia through the School of Engineering and Informatics and School of Management and many Malaysian students study in Bradford.
The Minister said: "Penang and Bradford share many connections, including manufacturing and technology, but we are also UNESCO World Heritage cities. We particularly want to develop partnerships with universities to help us develop as a centre of excellence and we look forward to extending our collaboration with the University of Bradford."
Professor Cantor said: "We are delighted to welcome the Minister to the University of Bradford and to demonstrate why we are the Technology University of the North. Our partnerships in Malaysia are very important to us and we look forward to developing those collaborations further to our mutual benefit."
